Review – Castle – The Mistress Always Spanks Twice (aka Castle Bondage)

This week:

Castle The Mistress Always Spanks Twice

Yes, Mistress.

Random person finds a person dead. Only the dead person is in restraints and smothered in caramel in a playground. Beckett teases Castle mercilessly. Castle fantasises endlessly. Cheer leading.  Lots of time with Mistresses. Sexual tension. Red herrings. Solution.

Pluses:
Fillion’s protrayal of Castle was just delicious.
Esposito and Ryan buddy cops.
Banter was slightly predictable but highly enjoyable.

Minuses:
Felt staged (but that is to be expected).

At least with this bondage ep of a show I am not scrubbing the images out of my brain as I did with Smallville. It was done as tastefully (?) as you can without going for mass scene of people in leather hanging from the ceilings. This was a remarkably funny episode. Well worth catching it on repeat.

Review – Castle – He’s Dead. She’s Dead.

Castle He's Dead, She's Dead

This thing between us, I believe it is called "sex-u-al tension." Did I mention I am ruggedly handsome?

This week:

Someone is murdered. Castle helps Beckett. Beckett gets annoyed with Castle’s witty banter. Castle flirts. Sexual tension ensues. Twists, turns and red herrings. They solve the case.

Pluses:
Back story of the Castle Family.
Nice tie in with personal stories and episode plot.
Great clue development!
Super fun!

Minuses:
Ummm. Will get back to you.

All in all this was a hugely enjoyable romp around NYC with the Castle and Beckett Dynamic Duo. For me, Castle is my fall asleep to on Sunday night show, but this new season seems to have stepped it up and made the old formula fresh again.

Review – No Ordinary Family – Series Premier

Typical American Family Drama - Special Effects = Even Crappier Piece of TV

This week:
We are a family. We are ordinary. Something happens. We are now extraordinary. We still have problems like ordinary people but want to make it work. Oh, a baddie.

Pluses:
Playing “Name that movie or tv series that has done the special effect before.”

Minues:
Not a new idea in the whole show.
American family schmaltz with some wanna be hero stuff thrown in.
No empathy for family at all.

Family Ties meets the Naughties with special effects. All it did was make me watch to see X-Men II and Smallville. Can’t see this one making the distance.

Castle – A Deadly Affair (Season Return)

My what sensible cop shoes you have there Beckett!

He is the kind that pays more.

Yes, Castle is back.

This week:

Castle is thought to be bad. Turns out he isn’t. Then thought to be bad. Turns out he isn’t. Beckett and Castle make a bet. Sexual tension ensues. They solve the case.

Pluses:
Nathan Fillion.
Esposito staring down Castle.
Reasonably Ok dialogue.
Nice murder piecing.
Escapism teev.

Minuses:
Stupid wardrobe choices for a police officer.
Lack of sandwich for Beckett.
Formulaic.
Still is Jessica Fletcher: Murder She Wrote with sexier and younger people.

Not bad for the same story every week – though I would like to see Castle go up against Flecther.
